Medium to Light Work
All medium to light massage therapy sessions are provided on the massage table. These may include a combination of CranioSacral Therapy, Neuro-muscular ReEducation, and Swedish/Relaxation Massage. Tuning Forks and Energy Work may be added upon request. The lighter work has a more 3-dimentional, whole body focus. Table sessions run from 30- to 90-minutes.
Deeper Work
We offer two options for Deep Tissue fans: Thai Massage and Bamboo Massage. Thai sessions are received while on a futon on the floor and run 60- or 90-minutes. Bamboo Massage is provided on the table in 60-minute sessions only.
Technique Descriptions
Bamboo Massage
During a Bamboo Massage session the therapist provides a Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage using Bamboo tools of differing shapes and sizes. The Bamboo is warmed and feels like an extension of the therapist's hands or fingers. This technique is great for Deep Tissue fans, but the pressure may be adjusted to any comfort level.
CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy utilizes light touch, the weight of a nickel, to assist the natural flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This massage therapy technique addresses imbalances of the central nervous system that may cause sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, and learning disabilities. CST is gently relaxing from the inside out, whereas massage is relaxing from the outside in.
Neuromuscular ReEducation
Neuromuscular ReEducation is a form of bodywork that involves gentle compression, stretching, and rocking movements. The purpose is to relax the central nervous system, allowing it to release chronic holding patterns within the muscles. This affects the body deeply on a structural level, without painful deep tissue work. It is very relaxing and has proven to be effective for neurological disorders, such as Parkinson's disease. Clients may opt to be fully clothed. Children enjoy NMR because of the movement involved, especially when we use balloons as pillows!
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal Massage is similar to Swedish Massage but utilizes lighter pressure. Much of the session is conducted while the client is comfortably lying on her side, supported by pillows. The strokes used on the arms and legs encourage fluid to move away from the hands and feet in order to help alleviate swelling in the extremities. Extra care is taken to avoid pressure points that are used to induce labor. Prenatal Massage is relaxing and soothing, especially after those ligaments start stretching.
Swedish/Relaxation Massage
Swedish or Relaxation Massage utilizes gentle but firm strokes and massage oil. Other beneficial techniques may be incorporated as needed. This is the best technique for those who are trying massage therapy for the first time.
Thai Massage

Thai Massage is usually received while lying on a special futon on the floor, but it may be adapted to the massage table. The therapist uses thumbs, palms, and even feet to massage muscles. Pressure may easily be adjusted from light weight to deep tissue.
The therapist also moves the client through a series of gentle, slow, passive stretches as the client relaxes. Thai Massage feels more 3-dimensional and works through the core of the body, as well as loosening tight muscles. The resulting effect is balancing, as the client emerges feeling simultaneously relaxed and energized! The passive stretching also engages the lymphatic system, activating the body's immunity. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
Tuning Forks
Did you know that you can tune your body with specially designed Tuning Forks? Like adjusting a piano, your body can be tuned to achieve optimal physical balance. Tapping two BioSonic tuning forks will instantaneously alter your body's biochemistry and bring your nervous system, muscle tone, and organs into harmonic balance. In seconds ... your body enters a deep state of relaxation. Feeling centered, your mind will be at peace...
Energy Work
Energy Work can be defined bringing balance to the body with more focused attention - a way of "being" with the tissue rather than "doing" something. This subtle, relaxing, and non-invasive work may be more appropriate for clients who have overwhelming conditions, such as depression or fatigue.
